Saw this on another site and had to post it. Having seen this I feel like a ham fisted ape who ought to burn his brushes.

If it weren't for the hair, I would expect that guy to climb out of the hatch and start walking. He does not look painted. Amazing talent.

That guy is truly an artist. Just look at the detail in the eyes!

This one is truely phenominal.
However, if you get a chance, check out the thread a about 8 or 10 threads down from that one. It's called "Check Point," and the figures in that one are just about equally fantastic. Look at the blond woman's hair and the little girl's eyes! That entire group is so tied together by the facial expressions...
These guys just blow me away.
One day, when I grow up to be a real model-builder, I want to paint figures just like them!

Yip ... 40x magnification. Considering how good the face and uniform is painted .... plus whatever preperation work carried out (appears to be some under cutting done), Im surprised he didnīt do more with the hair! Amazing talent/skill no doubt, but the hair doesnīt reach the same level in my opinion.

I am in agreement with Frank. Place your hand over the hair and you can really appreciate the rest of this figure even more. It aint over till its over. He can still paint the hair differently. Is it possible to use human (baby) hair for something like this ? Or are the strands too thick ? Just a thought. We all don't use microscopes to model with.................................. ..........................Al

I see the bar is set that much higher.
This guy is a master sculptor and figure painter, he's probably been doing this since he was six, but 10000 hours guys, and while you might not achieve this, I'll guarantee you'll be happy with the results.
It looks like he's got some sort of pointilism technique going on there, it's very impressive. Still, one is only as good as one's support.
The Jagdpanther is amazing too. I should point out it's not a Smart or Tamiya kit, it's the old Gunze kit reboxed by Dragon in the 1990s.

Well i'm in disagreement with almost everyone here (and elsewhere on the WWW as well it seems)!
Yes...it's precise.....it's a technical marvel.......I cannot deny that......
But it's bland.......dull......it lacks character amd personality.
The nest thing here is the uniform........but even that lacks depth.
I feel that work like this can only be appreciated if viewed enlarged in a photo like this or under the microscope with which it was painted. Look at this figure using the naked eye and I suspect it will look rather lifeless and uninteresting.
Just my opinion.....I guess this sort of thing is not what my take on modelling is all about
The Jadgpanther is great tho!

Hi all,
My opinion would be in between Rob and the rest.
yes, it's very detailled, but a 40x magnifier might help to that level of details. Me I just have my old tired eyes to work with. And I agree that without such microscope, there is great chance you will hardly notice the iris on his eyes during a hobbyshow.
But still, this guy has a real talent. Me I personnaly like the color of the face. It's very subtle and lifelike the mix of colors he did. With two lines he draws the eye contour, with two color he undelines the nose. This is very subtle and effective. I tried to use the same route, making face tones very close, with very subtle shading and gradation. But once you are more than 20 centimeters away from your figure, then nothing comes out. I'm sure with this guys figure you can still feel his work one meter away. And the work on the uniform is absolutely brilliant. You can even feel the texture of the jacket !
I've seen previous works of him : the miniart check point is fabulous, particulalry the little girl and her father. Personnaly I don't like the woman because her hair doesn't look natural (despite the fact that the gluing and shapping must have been a tough work).
Years ago, he did something that really impressed me : he took the old tamiya Kettenrad kit and reworked the figures, and principally their heads. Man, you could not recognize those horrible figgies from the 70's once his work was over.
But still he's amazing.

Hi Rob. I can agree with what you say ... and when viewed from an artistic point of view only, probably spot on. Unfortunately, we have only close up images to go with now, so it will be interesting to see complete photos and the figure shown without magnification. It will be interesting to see how the weaker definition in colours holds up and if the dot effects are visible.
For me, the fact this guy has pushed the boundries of what can be done a step further again, is where the fascination lays. I get a lot of inspiration from work like this.
Julien ... you have mixed up two different modellers ... it was Mr Keiichi Aoki who did the checkpoint and Tamiya ketenkrad and Mr Makoto Takaishi who did this figure and jagdpanther.
