Does anyone know who stocks the DML Gen 2 figures? I've only heard of them a few times but have never seen them. I couldn't find them on the DML USA sight either. Thanks.

As far as I know, it depends on the kit. I beleive Sprue Brothers have a few in stock. And I beleive, North Star, in Canada, has access to them. I would just about any store could order them, if you had the kit number.

i'm not 100% sure but i heard that Dragon cancelled their Gen 2 figures because they weren't popular that modellers didn't like the complicated build up of these kits. so finding them will be hard, you might drop on the odd set still floating around but as for them being readily available well that's another story. i personally liked the Gen 2 range i thought they were the next step in injection moulded evolution. but that's just my opinion. I think your right Ant, it does seem like it would be the next steo in IMP. Sort of like Smart Kits for vehicles. Too bad.

What are the differences of gen2 injection molding? I meant, what makes it gen2 and not gen1?
Actual molding differences are zero. The "GEN II" effect ... apart from another fancy trade name, meant more parts to build four figures, instead of the normal torso, head, arms and legs. The advantage of the extra parts allowed for better undercuts in the details, compared to the normal sets. It also meant more work to build a figure, but some, including myself, thought it was worth the extra effort.

Better detail on the gen 2 sets and more work. But worth it. Try scalehobbyest.com Last time I checked, they had some of them still in stock. Just depends on what set you are looking for. Real good service from them and pretty good prices. I was short on my shipping cost but they shipped anyway and sent the short latter on. Nice company to do buisness with. They are out of N.H.

Don't the Gen 2 sets have some PE included too? I have bought 10 or so regular DML figure sets and have never had PE in them.

The PE in the GEN II kits is OK, but not a deal breaker in my opinion. Straps and slings can easily be made from lead foil and having the Aber belts and buckles set comes in handy. The etch for straps is a bit too stiff.
There is some small bits of etch in the regular sets that have skiïng Germans for detailing the poles and also in their mounted sets for the stirrup details.

I liked the Gen 2 figures as well. More detail on the weapons and the many pieces for a figure made the easier to modify. I'm currently trying my hand at my first 1/35th scale dio based (very loosely) on a photo my dad took during WW2 of a few GIs sitting in a jeep watching an MP march a few German prisoners past. I was able to modify some of the US tank rider figures so I'll have a guy sitting with his hand on the tire in the back, and with a mix on Miniart DML and a couple of resin figures I thinkl I'll have it set. I just wish I was better (a LOT better) at painting figures!

I too like the Gen 2 figures and will be starting the "US Armoured Infantry" set this weekend. Nice collection of weapons, PE helmut straps, extra arms and hands for different poses. It probably is true about no more releases as it has been quite a while since the last one came out. Have a great weekend everybody ! Tom

Personally I quite like the Gen2 stuff, the only problem (apart from needing seven hands to put them together) is with the two part heads. Dragon have put the join line on an imaginary helmet strap line to get the ear detail sharper. This is fine if your intended victim has a helmet strap, but it leaves a pain of a join to sand if you don't. Obviously an aftermarket head is an option but the Gen2 faces are quite well defined.
Just be careful when putting the bodies together, a mistake made early on could have a knock-on effect later on.
Sounds a bit negative, I know but I still love em
