Can anyone tell me how they think Bruce D. created the weathering effect on the the doors of his Never Abandoned dio? I would love to give it a try on a building I currently have underway.

I think the finished door is on page 4.

I did send him a PM but haven't recieved a response yet. I'm just a point where I can't do anything else with my dio until I get these doors and shutters done.

Hi
Looks like it was painted in a couple of layers of different colour paint and then rubbed down, just like with a real door that is rubbed down for re-painting.
Probably totaly different method though.

I by no means whant to try and answer for him....but I am going to take a guess.
Acrylic wood color(s)
Followed by enamel coat
Followed by hairspray
Followed by white door color
Follwed by remove H.S. with water or alcohol
Followed by Filters & Washes?
Possibly brush chipping with acrylics.
Please know I am not trying to speak for the guy....I could be totaly wrong about the process. Just trying to be helpfull in light of the fact that the artist is M.I.A.

Hey all,
I got a PM reply from Bruce, the author of "Never Abandoned" and he said that he used Vallejo Crackle Medium to acieve the peeled paint affect. Sounds like a great technique. I think I'm gonna try one of the crackle mediums from Folart or Apple Barrel first though, since it's more readily available in my area.
Lain,
your techniques is what I would have guessed too.
