I just bought the Revell-Kit "LAV-25 (MC) "Piranha" that is actually a reboxed Italeri-Kit.
According to the description-text in the manual the LAV is equipped with a M-240 for AA-purposes, but on the sprue i just found a M-60 mg.
Or are there also versions with a M60 in service?

as i know a lot of enlisted personell of the us armed forces is around here, maybe some can provide me with some info this type of vehicle. i looking for good pics from either ODS or OIF and information material.

i found myself that page with pics http://www.mowag.ch/Images/Bildergalerie/Piranha/Piranha%20I/Version8x8/page_01.htm for the people are interested.

Does anybody know more reference pages?
Thx in advance

Foxy, as i've been down this path already (and its still in the vague 'planning' stage), just a couple of comments. From what I understand, the Revell (Germany) LAVs are ESCI moulds and not the Italeri ones. If this is indeed the case, then the Italeri models are far superior to the Revell offerings... Whatever you do, you are going to need to replace the wheels: there are some replacements out there..... Secondly, thanks for the link photos like this are truly invaluable.....Jim

it's definatly the italeri-kit. the sprues have the italeri-product number.
but i'm not sure if the italeri-kitr was a former ESCI-Kit....

Foxy, you are 100% right - Revell kit is Italeri rebox. ESCI kit was very different (I had both Italeri and ESCI and I have seen Revell kit, although I don't have it myself).

As for M-60 on the LAV-25, I guess the picture below is enough for an answer (in this case M-60E3):

All right, I stand corrected although the price of the revell LAV is higher than the Italeri. As I said in the post, I wasn't sure......Anyone got a link for the work necessary to bring it up to scratch? Jim

It is typical for all their reboxed kits. All Italeri kits are cheaper than the same plastic in Revell box. Sometimes Revell decals are however so much better than Italeri ones, that the difference in price is actually justified.

For example recently both Revell and Italeri reissued old ESCI M60 kit - Italeri M60A1 kit is 14.99 at Hannant's and Revell M60A3 is 19.99 GBP... Go figure...

maybe a liitle talk about the price and the decals.
i wanted to buy the Italeri-Kit, but my local hobby-supplier did not have the desired version in stock. Just the TUA or Mortar Carrier Variant. So I decided to take the Revell one with the hope in mind that it might be the Italeri kit.

The decals are supposingly done by Italeri too. "Printed in Italy for Revell AG" is stated on them. Revell Decals are printed in Germany. (As far as i know)

The Price difference was 1 €. 15€ on the Italeri Kit compared to 16 € on the Revell One. Imo that's OK.

We will see how this kit turns out. Maybe i will write a review on it, but right now i'm not quite convinced. I think i'm to fastidious on kits from the fareast

Another good thing about the Revell rebox is the plastic...its not in that nasty dark green color that Italeri molds their stuff in. The lighter color plastic is easier on the eyes and the Styrene seems to be of a higher quaitly

Hmmm... Actually all the Revell reboxes of Italeri kits I saw, used exactly the same plastic - including color - as original Italeri kits. And all these kits have "Made in Italy" written on the box, so sprues are actually made by Italeri. There is no reason for them to be different then Italeri's own releases. Of course it could have happened that some kit was made of dirrerent styrene, but most are exactly the same as originals. The same is also true for Hasegawa, AFV Club and Dragon models reboxed by Revell.

Pawel,

I had an Italeri LAV25 that pick up last year and I got an RofG LAv-25 back a couple weeks ago and the RG one was in Sand color plastic vs the Dark Green Italeri. For the most part you are correct about them being the same plastic.

hm, my LAV25 from Revell Germany is in dark green/oliv green plastic, although i would have been much luckier with sand colored plastic...
imo, that gives a better base....

I also agree with Pawel: "Made in Italy, Printed in Germany (Manual)"

But back to topic please. I'm still looking for pic from Desert Storm or Iraqi Freedom.

***UPDATE****

I found a great reference page on LAV's in general with tons of pics and on ODS specific

Maybe it's of interest for a few of you
