I just ordered my Academy M1151 from Hobby Easy and can't wait to get it. I know there was some concern over the tread pattern and sidewalls of the tires in the kit. They looked weird and nothing like what had been seen on HMMWVs before. It was assumed Academy got them wrong.
Here are the Academy ones.
Apparently, Academy got them right. They are the new Wrangler MT/R tires on M1151. I just received a brand new M1151 out of reset this week and it has them o it. Here they are.
Like I said, I can't wait to get mine and start it.

Indeed they did. Here's a photo from my SOF HMMWV CD of the tires off of the new M1152A1s my battalion received last year. I think I may have posted a few photos here in fact. I sort of measured them, just for kicks, and sent some photos out
They may show up in resin soon.
By the way, hopefully there'll be a few of these at Squadron this weekend.

I'm almost positive a resin set of these tires has been posted on the site not too long ago, in anticipation of this kit.
Edit: Found this photo of them.

Heavy the gap on the tred wall is way to wide. YOu can still use them but they will be off a bit.

Hay Heavy I'm going to oder that Acad kit as well. I'm going to rework those tire walls with white styrene. I'm going to try and fix them and cast my own molds for othere project.
The only major problem I have it how to give my tiers that low air look. With out losing the tred pattern on the tire walls.

I just got my kit and don't like the tires that came in the kit myself and I think Tamiya is getting some good competition from Academy for there Hummers the Academy in my option are better then Tamiya right now. I used too think Tamiya made the best quality ones but since OIF and Afghanistan started other companies have stepped up and caught the Hummer's from Tamiya. I think Tamiya is more for the World War II fans then there stuff is amazing an no one better then Tamiya in my option for World War II stuff.

Old topic, I know.
I don't think you can really compare Tamiya's almost decade old M1025/1046 to Academy's 1151. Not only because of the age difference but because they are two very different kits. Had Tamiya kept going with the Humvee line, I think a 1151 produced by them would be equal to if not of better quality than Academy's. Though I'm sure many people would say otherwise...

Your right sorry to get of topic and I love Tamiya it's they just went in a different direction. I wish they did keep there M1025/1046 are good kits to add aftermarket to but Out Of Box there old and I have a case of 24. I have a mix of 12 each and don't know what to do with them because I bought them before there was all these new Humvee line's without scrap-building or aftermarket them. They would have blew everyone out of the water if they kept it up, better molding crisper detail from Tamiya in all there kits. There plastic is also better quality for painting and weathering.
