Hi All,
I've just bought the Dragon 250/1 kit (#6427) and, thanks to a build review by Bill Plunk, now know of the fit issues with the vision block visors.
Can anyone help with a fix for the problem?
In Bill's review people recommended using the parts from an older release but I don't have that option.
Any ideas very welcome

Well, Bill does say you could fill the void somewhat. He then goes on to say it wouldn't be centered then, which baffles me. Why not lay in a strip of .005 or .010 styrene on BOTH sides, whichever fills the gaps enough. If .010 is too much, no problem - just file each side back a little bit. All you need to get it right is the length - get as snug a fit as possible. If your strips are a little wide they'll just stand proud of the front plate a bit, and you can just sand them down evenly.
By the way, as far as I know, Evergreen doesn't do .005 strips, but they do .005 sheets. My guess is you'll need .010 anyway.
Alternately, which seems more to me much more of a pain in the @$$, you could extend the vision slit pieces. I'm looking at mine from their 251 ausf. C kit (because I'll buy anything artillery related) and it seems as if the front blocks wouldn't present much of a problem extending the pieces, as the corners appear to be squared off. The sides vision blocks appear to have slightly rounded corners. Might be a moot point - does the 250/1 even have side blocks?
Again, if the strips make the piece slightly too wide, either file them back down a bit or widen the opening.

Robert,
I've been thinking about going down that path and either extend the kit supplied visors slightly or even have a bash at scratching something together.
I've built a couple of 251 kits and spent a couple of hours sorting through the spares box looking for replicated parts - before realizing that even if I did find a set they too would be smaller than required
Still, it'll be a while yet before I start this kit so maybe I'll have a Eureka moment and sort something out.

If time is not a factor, perhaps someone who reads this will have an unbuilt kit with the old vision blocks you need. You could borrow one and cast them (and any for future projects) No need to go whole hog with a complete RTV kit for the mold. Sculpey makes a "Moldmaker" that does ones sided molds pretty handily.
