When air brushing all is going well, spraying at about 20 ish psi Tamiya paint mixed with X 20 plus a little X22 clear. Double action brush with compressor with inline water trap. All is going well when all of a sudden a hugh blast of water shoots out of the nozzel. As you can imagine is a real pain in the butt. Anything I am doing wrong or is there a problem with my water trap or anything else? cheers Geraint

When did you last drain the air tank?

Ger;

Down here in the very humid southern USA (the Gulf of Mexico coast), I, too have had this splattering happen. And I drain my tank fairly frequently, and I drain my regulator water-trap every session.

Seems that water vapor can collect and condense in the hose, too. I have found that occasional blowing of air thru the hose without the AB attached can clear this build-up pretty easily. I have a quick-disconnect on my AB, so I pop the AB off the hose, use a skewer or small rod to push the disconnect valve in, and exhaust the air-tank with the hose held down low (below tank level. ). The water blows out. Seems to help the splatter problem a lot!

Maybe this can help you?

PS: Hi, Mr. Lewis! I'm a once-removed Welsh Lewis, too!

Cheers!

Bob

you might be interested in an Iwata water trap that hooks up to your airbrush. Its a last line of defense against this problem.

Here is a pic of the water trap.
Very easy to install and no more water splashes.
