Well since I've started asking questions on here (thanks for all the help) I thought I'd better share my first finished modeling project for what is probably about 25 years (or about 18 if you include painting wargaming and warhammer stuff)

This is the 3rd AFV I've started since january, the other two (a VM Valentine that needs it's track finished... what a pain, and a Panzer IV F-1 that needs weathering)

I began with the Trumpeter Finnish T-55 with mine roller, but decided to go for the alternative Syrian painting scheme and to leave off the mine roller.

I've done some minor scratch building adding fuel lines, and fixings for the fuel tanks. I've also wired up the search lights on the turrets and added some real wire mesh to the engine grills (from a frying pan splash guard of all places). A coaxial MG was added (an inaccurate MG-42 with a bit of putty).

Oh yes, I also moved the gun barrel across by modifying the mantlet cover to give space for the gunner within the turret (but I think it may have needed to go further)

Anthony!

Welcome back on the dark side

Very nice work, I like the colors! And you made a cool model out of an old kit!
Nice!

Regards,
Andreas

I based my paint job on the trumpeter kit instructions (I could email a scan if you want),

but switched the yellow and grey because I thought it looked better, and fitted a picture on a link that has now gone dead (dohh I should have saved it while I could

The colours are tamiya deep green, dark yellow and neutral grey (if i was in to mixing my own I'd have played around with the grey a bit but it's not far off)

There a a fair few good pics at the link below (note the lower hull of the BMP is camouflaged, but the T-55 is plain yellow, I'm not certain if this is a vehical type specific scheme or varies)

a few other links below (note the green does seem to vary a fair bit, whether it fades more, or different colours are used I don't know)
