Sherman 75mm barrel question
How will I be able to know if this very M4A2 Sherman

is fitted with the early barrel?

as I read John's answer to your question, the first idea that came my mind. .......
As the barrel end is covered by a cover, John must have some kind of telepathic capabilities.
The picture of TARENTAISE is somewhaut blurry, but I can recognize a M34 mantlet, and due to the fact that the picture is not the best quality I can't say for sure if the collars are on the mantlet!
But other then that, I would say, that you could go either with the early barrel with the flarred muzzleend or the later barrel with the straight muzzle end!
It's up to you; - put a muzzle cover over the muzzle end...............

Given the late date it is likely they used the later gun without the flared muzzle. They may (or may not) have been built with the earlier gun, but by 1944 I'm guessing any early guns would have been worn out and replaced. Still, with a bag over it nobody will know!
