Dear fellow modellers,
unfortunately my search for HEMTT engine pics was fruitless. The Italeri offering is simply pathetic and I would like to reproduce the engine more accurately. Could anybody help me out?

Hi Arpad,
would the vehicle´s TM be helpful? If yes, drop me a PM. I Think I have also some engine pics in my collection.

A Google image search for "Detroit Diesel 8V92TA" should yield a few interesting pics :
http://www.govliquidation.com/auction/view?auctionId=3425268
http://www.surplusman.com/Detail.php?itemid=4017
and even a few videos like this one :
http://www.aeonbox.com/video/9bDGo-79PyA/8V92TA-480HP-Detroit-Diesel.html (even if I guess that the color shouldn't be accurate for a HEMTT engine )
You can find this engine TM here :

Frenchy,
thank You for the links. I came across those too. I was not sure if the engine was from an actual HEMTT, it could come from other trucks using the same engine. I notice some differences between the two models in the links You posted. I did not find a pic with an open engine bay so I cant compare the proportions of the engine and scratch it. Do You have pics of the engine bay open?

Arpad
I agree that some civilian engine details may differ from those on the version fitted to the HEMTT.
Here are some HEMTT pics from Joe Wallace's Webshots albums
In fact the first one shows a Mk48 LVS but I think the engine is the same
and a few more pics from Primeportal (various HEMTT variants) :

Thank You again, Frenchy, I see a very fun build in the near future. To raise the stakes, Im going to add the armoured cab.

Hay guys you all have helped give me more photos to add to my offline files. When it comes to my scratchbuild of the Mk48 LVS. Your enginebay photos will help out alot.
Now I have stepped back form my project because of the work I pu in on the ABV project.
Thanks for sharing.

Frenchy, thank You for the link. This combined with the Tankograd book will give me just enough references for my build.

the transmission behind the engine was left bare aluminum, as well as the drop box when we shipped them. There are a few brackets and such that are cadium plated, and all bolt heads were plated as well. I can't for the life of me remember what colors were used on the rest of the drive train, but will think on it. We always had one or two at work, and would have the Army pull power pacs from time to time to get an engineering evaluation at the internals. Never saw a gear box comeback painted.
