Hello all,
Here is my Pak 40 still life. It is from the Tamiya kit. The setting is somewhere on the Russian front in 1943 and I titled it , "A Moment of Stillness" (my German might be off) I liked how the diorama looked without the figures so I kept it that way. Hope you guys like it! Any comment/tips are welcome. Cheers!

The diorama looks great!
I like the landscape and the details.
The camo-net makes an interesting cover for the gun and blends it good into the landscape.
Good overall work!
Hmm, I would translate "Ein Augenblick der Stille" into... "a moment of silence".
But I didn´t knew the word "stillness" until now... so I think, this also should fit.
I used an online.translator for checking.
greetings...

Nice little vignette.
I did notice the cluster grenade though. As far as I know, that setup was used for demolition purposes, or to attempt to lift the turrets off of T-34s. Not sure it has a place in this setting.

Thanks guys. And Robert, I read that the cluster grenade was also used to blow off tracks on tanks. My source could be wrong though. Thanks for the heads up, I will most likely remove it and add another Panzerfaust. Cheers!!

Nice little scene indeed!!
I'm not sure about the Panzerfaust though! The PzF is a close range infantry AT-weapon, whereas the PAK 40 is for medium and long range (in open terrain ).
Another thing: the camo net would be "hanging" from the barrel a lot more. (I used to have a pic showing this, but I can't find it.) You would have to soak it in a PVA-water mix and drape it over the gun again IMHO.
In order to allow for a tight fit and enable painting the net afterwards, I usually drap them over a piece of alu-foil in the "right" position. Once the whole thing is dry, you can peel the alu-foil off...and have a "heavy-looking" falling net. Easy!
Cheers

Hey Joe,
Nice dio you have there, I especially like the cam net over the gun. A good choice of colour and it actually blends in and hides the gun (rather than just a token cam net added).
I would like to suggest maybe removing the binos of the box. I totally understand why they are there but in the shot showing the ammo box they look kind of clumsy and large. I don't know, they just don't seen right somehow.
Cheers

Nice one. How about adding a cloth or paper backdrop for the pics

No, I'm sure your source is correct . It falls into the "special demolition" role, and is in line with the AT role like blowinf off a turret would be.
Like Romain said about the Panzerfaust though, I just don't think it likely to be in the hands of anyone but infantry and sappers. One never knows though, do one?

Thanks for the input guys. Romain, I saw in another Pak 40 diorama there was a panzerfaust next to it so I put it in. My thinking was that a crewmember or another soldier covering them would take it along as they move in case the need arises. Thank you for your input though Also, I'm gonna try soaking that net and then repost some pictures. Thanks!!
REMEARMR: I was thinking the same thing after I posted the pictures! The binoculars are rather large and I will be removing them.
California Greg: It will be done Haha
And Robert: That is true.
Thank you all for your helpful insight. I will add/remove some things and repost some pictures! Cheers.

Allright lads here are some new pictures. I soaked the camo net to try to make it hang more, removed the cluster grenade, added better binoculars, and added a helmet and gas mask canister to add some interest. I also added a backdrop (just some towels, I don't have much to make one out of) Let me know what you guys think.
Better binoculars and added helmet/gas mask can:
Is this hanging better?

Hanging a lot better now!! Well done!!!!
Smaller binoculars are an improvement, and so are the helmet and gas mask. No doubt these could be found with every soldier!!
Thanks for posting the pics!
Congratulations!!
Cheers

Hi Joe. Nice little scene.
Personally Id add some relaxing crew to the scene, and keep the title. It gives a better "live" effect.
One other tip would be to make the heavier items feel heavy. Some of the sheels appear to be floating slightly on the ground cover. You should fix these first and then add your ground covering to show them sunken slightly .... to portray their weight.

Hi Joe,
Could you change the year in 1944? The Panzerfaust 60 was first issued in August 1944. Or can you change it into a Panzerfaust 30?
