To whet my appetite for the Cromwell Chally 2 TES 2009 conversion I hope to have started in the near future, I have pulled from my stash the Tamiya Challenger 2 Desertised version to built oob as the 2003 incarnation. Of course this kit suffers from Tamiya's lack of filled in sponsons, and the question I have for those who have completed this kit is whether or not scratching sponson fillers is worth the effort or even necessary given the amount of area covered by the side skirts?

It’s an easy task to complete and it does help with the rigidity of the model as a whole. It is of course entirely up to you if you wish to do it though.

Darren and Keith,
Yeah I went ahead and did it; wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, and now I feel better about how it will look once everything is assembled. Like Keith I just added what would be seen in the gap in the skirting above and immediately forward of the drive sprocket. Now to do something about those pesky square holes in the top of the turret......
