Howdy all,

I just picked this kit up at my local hobby shop's yearly sale for just a few sheckles (couldn't resist the price ). The box is dated 2000, and states that it is the 'Isreali' version. Being one of Trumpeter's earlier offering's I was wondering if anyone knew the origin of the mould? Esci? Skif? Renwall? Heck, I don't know, could be anything. Anyone have an idea?

Thx in advance.

Tread.

P.S. I know that after working on my present project, the new Tamiya T-55 model, this kit will not compare, but with any luck at all it might build-up into a fairly nice variant. With the IDF as it's destination, as you all know, anything is posible. I could place a plethora of stowage to hide the turret inaccuracies.

P.P.S. The cover art shows it mounting both a .50 cal and a .30 cal, love to get some pics of that in the field.

Holy Mackeral guys, my apologies for double posting here, but I just opened the box to take a peek and lo and behold what do I find? The hull tub with both a motor and a battery case in it. Great.
That bit of bad news should help us narrow it down a little.
I looked over the sprues and the all say 'Trumpeter 1999'. One interesting note is that the Instruction sheet is titled (as the box is) ISREAL TI-67 105mm GUN, yet inside the instruction booklet it only mentions the T-54 TIRAN 4 build-up, or the T-55 TIRAN5 build-up version options. O.K., not being a soviet armour expert, I was hoping one of the brethren here could help.

Tread.

The darn thing also comes packed with a DShK-M AA MG on the sprue, along with the .30 and the .50.

Hi Tread

The mould is new. The Ti67 stands for Tank Israeli-1967, as far as I know it is a ‘western’ term and not used by Israel. Israel’s term is Tiran; 4 for the T-54, 5 for the T-55 and 6 for the T-62.

The Tiran 4 has a 100mm main gun, and the Tiran 5 and 6 have 105mm main guns. These sites should help:

Howdy savage,

Mnay thx for your input mate. Your provided likes were great, especially the build-up article of that particular kit. (he even mentions the battery pack).

I've been building my new Tamiya T-55 kit as an Iraqi 'Enigma' variant, complete with AM damaged road wheels by Trakz., and the Enigma conversion from VLS, and Fruil tracks. So, that leave's me with the Tamiya road wheels, and rubber band track set. The track set ont the Trumpeter kit is pretty lame, and the road wheels are not as well moulded as the Tami's. I think I'll see if I can switch the Tamiya parts for the Trumpeter parts. On the outside of the Trumpeter box , on the side is a picture of the metal Fruil tracks supposedly being used on the Trumpeter kit, If that's true, then the Tamiya band tracks should fit. And, if that's true, then the Tamiya road wheels should work as well!

Thx again savage. :-)
