http://wehrmachts.kisten.free.fr/sonderlfh18.htm These photos of German ammo containers apear to have original colors on them. The red/brown appears chocolate brown; the green appears to be more of a forest green than olive; and the yellow is much darker than what is usually illustrated. Any comments? More pics:

It actually looks like the 1930s three-colour scheme; is that possible?

I agree, it looks like the pre-war "flame-proof camouflage colors" and not the three colors of the LW period.

I concur with David and BillC- looks to be the "feuersicherlich buntfarbenanstrich", to me, both in colors and in apparent pattern.
The "parts box" is evidently for a light field howitzer type 18 (Leuchter feld-haubitze 18) - a standard 10.5cm howitzer in service throughout the pre-war and war era, so it's quite reasonable for such a gun parts-box to be painted in this "bunt..." scheme, which was in use from 1934 into 1938.
VERY interesting find! Presuming that it is the camo scheme we think, modelers who are into the pre-war German stuff should find this item very instructive! (I do!- it appears to confirm my interpretation of the claimed buntfarben colors...!)
Cheers!
