A method that uses less gizmos was described in the latest Harvar-d diorama book. You simply spread some white glue on the base and stick the grass into it. Takes a bit of practise and experimenting with the colors but it worked out for me. I used the stuff from a cat scrathing post but you can use anything that looks like grass and cut it to the apropriate length. Here's an example (not the best, but I will need some more practising):

Cheers!

I like the stuff by Fredericus Rex- particularly their grass mats which have variations in length and color:

http://www.fredericus-rex.de/shop2010/Green-Line-scenery/Grass-mats/

Then you can use their tufts and other products to blend it all in and add the variations you might want/need.

http://www.fredericus-rex.de/shop2010/Green-Line-scenery/Tufts-of-grass/

This stuff is very easy to use aswell- the mats can be broken up/cut up to fit an area and some PVA glue will seal it down. Just dip the tufts in some PVA and stick them on. SK miniatures (http://www.skminiatures.co.uk/#/fredericus-rex/4532788244) carry the range and the service from Steve is second to none.

The Army painter also do some nice tuft selections that come with a sticky backing so you don't even need glue:

I hope this helps.

Cheers.

Hi Stanley. All these different grass producers have great stuff .... but I dont believe any one compnay makes better stuff than another. The best idea is to get a variety of different grass types (lengths) and mix them up. Look around you and youŽll see what I mean.
See parts 4 and 5 of the base in progress. Even unpainted in part 4, its starting to look the part, just by varying the types used.
