I am planning my next build which will be a bunch of M113s and variants from my old unit. But in Vietnam, I was in it later.
I don't remember but I think our periscopes were green. I have read that in Nam they were like a pink color. It's so hard to tell in pictures.
If anybody knows I would appreciate it, thanks.

This one is an Australian M113A1 (FSV variant), but I guess the color should be the same for a US one :

Thanks.
I do remember them being kind of a weird green. But basically they are clear. The vehicles we used were all very old and refurbished original M113s into M113A1s. The ITVs looked old too, I don't know if they were new or refurbished too.
I could swear it looked like some had bullet holes patched...

The best way to represent them in 1/35 scale is to first paint the face black. Then put on a couple coats of clear green. Once that is dry, put on a couple coats of clear gloss. This will give enough depth and the green will give the look of thick glass.
This technique works for any non anti-laser coated periscope glass.
For later, anti-laser coated optics, swap clear red for the green and use the same technique.
