Hello dear friends,
I'm a newbie here on Armorama foruns - I registered just a few moments ago.
I'm a modeler since the 90's, but I built mostly aviation models. Recently I began to have interest on military models, specially the german railguns of WWII.
So, I bought several models to build a simple diorama in 72nd scale. They are a Hobbybos BR52, a Hobbyboss K5(e) "Leopold", and some academy vehicles - a Opel Blitz and a Kubelwagen.
My intention is to represent the K5(e) cannon being transported by the BR52 kriegslok to Italy, just prior to his duty shelling the Anzio beach, Italy.
My main doubt is how to paint the locomotive and the cannon.
As I realized seeing some builds the "Leopold" cannon and his brother "Robert" were used in that duty wearing Dark Yellow / Red Brown camo.
What I want to know is - they arrived in Italy in this scheme or in the old Panzer Grey overall?
My doubt is because I want to show my dio with the Leopold being towed to Italy by the BR52 in late 1943, prior to his use against the Anzio Beach head in early 1944.
And should I paint the locomotive in black/red or in Panzer Gray? Or neither?
I'm sorry about all those questions, but I'm a newbie in military modeling, with very limited knowledge surround this theme.
I'll wait for some help, if someone can help me I'll be extremely gratefull.
Thanks in advance.
Greetings from Brazil.
José Maria.

Hello fellas,
Another thing I would like to know is where the K5e number 919219 "Leopold" operated before being sent to Italy in late 1943, early 1944.
Was there in France at that time!?
Thanks in advance.
JM.

By the way I hope Libor sees this thread, I'm sure he has some answers for you. He knows a lot about railroad related topics. Look for his work on this site, it is very good and may give you some ideas.
Regards,
Pascal
