I know for a fact that there is a McDonald's in Beirut (was there with the U.N. in
1995) and there is loads of McDonalds in Isreal
Nice going on the wargaming board, Allan. As for the Mosque location: they come in all forms. Smaller one that are part of city blocks, bigger ones that are city blocks, on squares and some can be a little further out, depending on what ground was available for purchase (it is not common, though since as a religious building, you want easy access for the people.
