Hi guys!
Well, I'm finally starting some work on my dio and I was thinking about the figures. I think this is the place to ask:
I've never done any figure conversion and barely know anything about using miliput to make extra parts, is there a how-to or anything on this?
Also, is there a place with a basic sculpting article?
And, finally, I'm in search for 1/35" US Soldier circa 1945 at rest figures.
Any help would be appreciated!

Tell us a little about the dio and we may be able to recommend specific figures. Infantry? Tankers? sitting? standing?

If you're prepared to pay out for resin figures there are plenty of relaxed US figures on the market.

Hi guys,
thanks for the responses. I will be starting work on Hitler's Eagle's Nest, May 1945 after it's been captured by the US.
So, any figures sitting, standing, sleeping, resting, hanging out in general is what I'm after. I'm trying to find more info on sculpting and converting, and I'll keep looking to see what I can come up with.

You might want to look at Dragon's Advance to the Rhine Figure Set. The four standing figures could add to your project. They could be easily altered to meet your needs.

I believe all your US figures should be wearing the M1943 uniform. Dragon's US tank riders (good set) are wearing this uniform, as are most of the Advance to the Rhine figures (older set with soft detail), and one guy from Allied Force ETO 1944 (good set). That gives you a start with at least 5 good and a few so-so Dragon figures.

Tamiya also did a set that went with their US Halftrack a few years ago. It has all the stuff you were talking about, Figures sitting, standing and just hangin' out.

Brandi,
The Tamiya set is #35080 U.S. Combat group. It should have most of the figures you are looking for.

The figures you use will depend on which unit you want to portay. 7th Reg of the 3rd Inf Div actually got there first, followed shortly afterwards by members of the 101st Airborne, then French 2nd Armoured Div. If you want to make the paratroopers you will need figures in the late style uniforms as they had all been reissued with this in late '44 - 3rd Inf or French 2nd Armoured could have a wider mix of uniform styles which will give you a greater number of available figures.
