Hello everyone

I have decided to take up figure painting again after a 25 yearish absence, I plan to start with some plastic Masterbox figures and Vallejo paint.

My original interest was fantasy 25mm but lost interest when games worship dominated the Market.

I have a few question regarding paint, could someone explain briefly what the differences and uses are for

I am familiar with acrylics and ink wash's but what are

Pigments
Filters

And what do people use for wash's these days? Thinned acrylics?

Cheers

For washes, I use three different methods. I have done them with acrylics, enamels, and water colors. I find that water colors have the best results, but I soon make my first attempt at an oil wash. I generally use acrylics for figures, only cause it is cheaper than using enamels. I would suggest Vallejo, although I'm a glutton for punishment using Tamiya. I have never encountered anyone who uses a filter on figuers. It is generally used to help blend camo patterns on vehicles or to add a little break up for monotone ones. Pigments are used for weathering. On figures, this would be mud, dirt, or snow. If you would like, I can write up a walkthrough on how I paint my figures(specific colors, types, and applications).
