Hi All
I am currently working on Tamiya's new "Bubble Top" P47D, and I would like to know which type of aluminum finish is the closest to the real thing. The choices being Alclad's aluminum, darkened aluminum, highly polished aluminum and chrome, or Testors metalizer's aluminum, or aluminum plate.
Now I know that there are subtile changes on the real plane's surface, but I am asking about the majority of the surface.
Any help?
Thanks!!!

I have worked with Testors "Aluminum plate" Excellant paint to work with. The stink though while working with it, look out!
You can also buff it to a shine. Don't forget the metalizer sealer!

I just finished a P 51D with Aluminium Plate Buffing Metalizer from Model Master and it worked very well.
Here is a pic of how it looked before I finished it, next week IŽll take more pics of the finished model.

Nice 'stang!!
What did you use to mask on the Aluminium Plate Buffing Metalizer, as to not pull it off, when painting the anti-glare section in front of the canopy. Could not have been masking tape? I have had trouble when masking on Metalizer paints.
Please advise
Thanks

Hi tek2:
First of all I painted the Olive Drab anti glare panel in front of the canopie, then I masked it and painted the Aluminium Plate Buf. Met.
With these Model Master Metalizers I never have problems. You can see that the panel were is placed the exhaust is painted with Burnt Metal Buf. Met. When I did that I masked the adjacent panels and when pulling of the tape nothing happened. You just have to be carefull. Also I painted some other panels in the fuselage using other tones of Buf. Met. For that I used the littles Post It from 3M, they work fine for that because their tack is very light.
After painted I gave a gral. coat of Model Master Sealer for Metalizers.
Model Master Metalizers work very well. You can try first in a piece of styrene and look what happens with the Met. paint and the masking tape.
Regards.
