Hello everyone,
I plan to make a very accurate model of the sturer emil. I'm writting out my plan for the weathing process, such as how im going to do the tools, hair spray technique, and the road gear, Mig pigments. But i then thought, how should i paint and weather the interior? So my question is, what colour would the interior be? XF-55, Deck tan? Also for the pin washes would using a darker grey thinned 85% to 15% paint do? And the ammo rack that holds the brass shells, would that be made of wood or metal?
Thanks
Callum.

Callum:
Hi!
From the various discussions I've come across concerning interior colors of these German open-top AFVs, there seems to be a large (and reasonable-sounding in all ways, to me) "vote" for the (externally-visible) interiors to be same as the exterior base-color - from which, I would suggest Sturer E should probably be painted dunkelgrau on the interior sides. The metal floor may well have been left in the notorious "rotoxide" primer. Interior wood bits, floor duck-boards, etc., probably were all also originally painted exterior colors, though us modelers often paint these things "wood" (and one can reason that crew wore the paint off the tops of floor-boards, etc.).
I would suggest that those ammo racks would have been metal, but this is just my opine based on seeing that most such racks inside various German vehicles appear to have been so in pics, etc. That said, this was a prototype that went to test war...
Weathering? It was Russia. But please don't show him all chipped-up! They did not last that long before destroyed or captured (I believe 1 off to Kubinka?). A dark pin-wash will be needed to bring details out from the dunkelgrau... maybe a Mars black or umber on the outside bits?
Hope to see this posted! It's the Trumpeter kit, I assume, with some add-ons?
Just my opines, mate; Cheers!

Are you going to put in a driving compartment and if so are you going to scratch build one?

Hello pothead,
The model has already been built. I'm now weathering it. It's a tad to late for me to construct a drivers compartment. I'll post photos of when shes done.
Thanks for the interest.
Callum.
