Modern or WWII? I have done some modern ones years ago and not that I am any expert, but I used to paint the base, then add each of the other colours in a small swipe/curve to simulate their style of uniform from the 80's and 90's. Beyond that I am not much help. Cheers.

Shaun, in the July issue of Scale Military Modeller (from SAM Publications) there is an article by Mark Dollery of a modern British Soldier in desert camo- that might be of use to you.

you mean like this, right?

This is what I know as modern UK desert camo, but remember that I am an old cold warrior. . . .
If this is what you are looking to do, the base coat is what I do first then make the little "swooshy" camo blobs with a brush that is "feathered" a bit. I will take some photos I did back in the late 80's (hush, you) and post them later today. Cheers.

Ok, here are some photos of my "attempt" at doing this over 20yrs ago (and NO none of these were finished figures). Remember that these were painted over 20yrs ago, so cut me some slack. Some of the paint has faded a bit but I think you can get the gist of what I am trying to say about how to. Hope this helps, and if nothing else, good for a few laughs. Cheers.

use the search feature on the armorama.com site at the top of the page; type in "DPM camo"; go to the feature by David Blacker on painting British DPM and Pakistani camo; although for temperate DPM, will also help with desert pattern as well. A great article!
