Hopefully someone can help me as I don't normally do WWII stuff.

I've just got my hands on a 1/72 Revell Flower class corvette which I'm thinking of converting into a Kriegsmarine version (captured with the fall of France) because I like the descriptions of all the AAA they loaded on them.

Can anyone suggest the best kits or AM sets to get the following from please?
2 x quad 20mm
2 x 20mm
1 x 3.7cm
1 x twin 3.7cm

If I have to get some truck/half-track mounted etc just for the weapon that's OK, but which are the best quality?

Thanks in advance for any advice
Sean

Sean,

A good place to start a search for 1/72 AAA would be to check out the plastic manufacturers on the Henk of Holland site.

Quad 20 mm - Hasegawa made a half-track with one of these mounted but the gun barrels are grossly oversized. Italeri makes a German gun set with a Flak 38 in it but I have never seen it so I can't comment. I also believe that there is a supplier of metal barrels to replace the ones on the Hasegawa kit.

Single 37 mm - Hasegawa makes one but like the quad 20 the barrel is far too thick. MACO Plastic Models makes a superb Flak 43 and you can see the review of it HERE. One of their kits even comes with a metal barrel and a bit of PE.

The only single 20 mm I recall is the Nitto model and it came in a kit with a quad 20 but alas, they are 1/76 scale.

Hope that some of this was helpful.

Cheers,
Jan

Hi Sean

Just check out Armo range, maybe you'll find some AM barrels that would fit the bill...
