I'm currently using the Mouse House conversion to make an Australian Vietnam War era series II Land Rover from a Tamiya Pink Panther Land Rover and I was wondering if any one knew of any decals that I could use for it?
I guess there aren't any specifically designed for the Land Rover as I figured Mouse House would list them but what do I need in the way of decals to make it look right for Vietnam?
Any help would as always be much apprecated.
Cheers
David

Mouse House did a few decals for Vietnam Aussie decals, including one that has a few small red and yellow shields with kangaroos in them(for M113s, trucks and landies). Google reveals photos of Landies with both plain black and plain larger white roos with no shield, as well as reg. license plates, bridging discs ("3"), and hand painted white double digit numbers, and some black militray stenciling such as "S1", and other unit insignia. If you google and use some of the aforementioned decals, I am sure you could also stencil and / or hand paint some as well. Also I believe the Acadamy M113 with the Aussie Vietnam versions had decals with it? HTH.

Hi David

You probaby know about this website already :

The Registry of Ex Military Land Rovers

but this other one is also worth a look :
Australian Land Rover Owners

Here are 2 threads (among others) with Vietnam Landies pics that may help with markings :

I have some photos and slides taken by my father that I probably should give to the War Memorial, but I'll dig them out and try and scan them for you.

One thing to note, when I was posted to my first unit, my Dad recognised a couple of Rovers and F1's (mk5's) that served in Vietnam, from their ARN's and some little mods.

Shane any photos you can scan would be very much apprecated.
As for your dad recognising the ARN's reading through the websites Frenchy posted it seems that a lot of the Land Rover's histories are fairly well documented so if I put an ARN on my model I had better make sure it looks right and matches any photos or I might be in trouble

David,

Dads dead , and the only way he's coming back is if I hit a woman, so your safe from this end.

For more info on the sports cars you have 2 options;

I f you want to get in trouble, google RAASC Association and invite them out for a beer...make sure you have a spare liver.

If you really want to get into trouble, call RAEME, you'll get drunk, have your photo taken with a dubious hooker, wake up with 1 new kidney, your aorta reemed ,your lungs washed and oiled, then two small but strong men will be knocking on your door expecting you to do it all again.

I have the scars to prove it.

Either way you'll know more about Landrovers than any man should.

Smokey,
