Hi Guys. Watched through this series of video blogs this morning, where a Japanese modeller builds and paints the Revell 1/35 PT boat, and makes some interesting effects in the diorama base with water effects. Some useful ideas regarding weathering of the boat as well.

I subscribe to that channel and I'm still going through all the videos. This guy really captured the sense of speed and drama. Loved it. Don't know how I missed this one. Thanks Frank for sharing.
Just wish someone could translate or better yet one of the syndicates do an english version. If they can do it for Iron Ched then they should be able to do it for this. I'd even watch SBS just for it. It shows you how much the Japenese love this hobby that they can make a TV show for it. No wonder they are so good at minaturisation.

Thanks for all the new links Mauro.
Its great to see these ... theres always an idea or technique worth seeing .... and if nothing else, a little bit of inspiration. No matter what level of modeller you are, theres something for everybody.
It amazes me some though .... the finished model looks really good .... but some of the actual work is quite sloppy sometimes, and little care is taken in places, where I know I probably would put in so muuch more effort. Maybe this is why so many of us get "modellers block" ... we get bogged down in details and "perfection" and in reality the overall impression counts for more and the extra effort is not really seen. Maybe this is why they call themselves "master modellers" ... they know exactly what is required and where to give extra attention, and can quickly hop over the details less obvious. Just a thought!

Well Frank, I totally agree with you. As far as I undestand (from the comments because unfortunately I don't speak Japanese) the modellers have to complete their models in a very short time (during the episodes of the first series they had to complete them in just 2 days and one night!...) and that's the reason why their jobs sometime aren't perfect. But anyway as I said I'm really "addicted" to these tutorials because are incredibly inspiring for me.
And yes, I think is interesting to see that you can do an outstanding job also if you don't go mad with a lot of tiny details
cheers

hi guys
These are great videos to watch, ive seen them countless number of times and even tho i dont speak or understand a word of japanese, you just know what they are talking about. The episodes on the sherman tank and the german halgftrack are great to pick up hints and techniques for weathering.
cheers
