Has anyone attempted to paint a vehicle as it would look at night under a full moon? I know might seem a silly question but I'm thinking of putting together an IR Panther G with IR spotlight Sd.Kfz and want to set up the diorama as if you were standing there at night.
Any help, hints or suggestions?

Reminds me of an old argument, what colour is an orange in the dark?
I'd suggest that you darken your paint heavilly, leaving only a small tonal variation.

If you're building for yourself -no problem but if you're building it to be see how is the viewer supposed to know that it's a night time scene without a written explanation?
What about a boxed diorama with a small window and minimal lighting inside?

Now thinking outside the box!! Use a frosted plexiglass top and how to spread out the light evenly? I'll run with that idea.
Would I use normal field colors or subdue them?

Smokeyr67;
I thought about darkening the colors or using shades of black and gray. I'm stuck on deep shadows where everything dissolves in one dark mass.
Example: shadows under the track itself where you couldn't see the top of the roadwheel only the lower in silhouette.
