In past posts there has been agreement that Testors Model Master Sand, FS33531, is the closest available color in that line for the shade current US forces AFV's in Iraq and A-stan are painted....seeing how they have FS numbers, I was wondering what application MM's Armor Sand (FS 30277) and Modern Desert Sand (FS 33722) would be appropriate for?

Out of curiosity…why doesn’t Model Master make the correct shade (or close as possible) of the yellow/tan color used on German AFV in spray can form? I mean really, the market is completely saturated with German AFV’s.

Armor sand sprays much darker than it appears in the bottle, when sprayed over light grey primer. You may be able to use it to paint shaded areas, when using MM Sand as a topcoat.

Thanks for the insight, Matt, that actually satisfies my curiosity: I used the MM Sand on the running gear area of the M1A2 Tusk 2 and it looked a little too light to me; I will give the Armor Sand a try as a base coat and highlight with the Sand and see if it looks betterArmor sand sprays much darker than it appears in the bottle, when sprayed over light grey primer.
