Ok I am thinking of having a road with a checkpoing gard house. Around the gate house are sand bags in a line creating a wall. Behind the sand bags are tamiyas German mg crew...
The convoy is comprised of a "German 8ton semi track Sd.kfz.7" towing a " German 20mm FLAKVIERLING 38" led by a "Panzer"... all of the kits are painted in the eastern front panzer gray theme...
Do you think this is a good idea, and is it historically accurate?

Panzer (armored) is short for Panzerkampfwagen (PzKfw) , or armored fighting vehicle and would be considered generic shortcut for "tank". They were numbered I to VI, the last two being the Tiger and King TIger, or followed by something llike 38(t), which designated a captured Czeck (Tsek) tank put in German service. To determine the historical accuracy, you'd have to designate which German tanks were in use on the Eastern front before the changeover to Dunkelgelb.
The SdkFz 7 could certianly pull the 20mm, but it might be better to use a smaller halftrack to pull this relatively light load.

I will find out tonight when I get home what version of panzer it is...
Ya I know its a light load but I allready have the kit and I have already started it.. =)
Another question Did they use gates at check points or just gard houses? Also is the MG crew acurit for garding the post? =)

Hi your question on a MG nest at a check point would be determined by the purpose of the check point (If it is a simple check stop back in the rear area then a MG nest might not fit in) Like the other posts stated you need to determine what you are trying to tell anyone who views your dio. I think you have a great start and would love to see what you come up with. One last thought, this will be your dio so have fun it and if you really want a MG nest at a check point then thats what I would do.

depending on what type of pz IV is you can determine the period and you can decide even to paint or not in gray all, cause panzergray was use most on early types

I think the idea is good. Whether or not it's historical accurate, I can only say.....research. Try to find articles, pictures, soldier storier out on the web and/or in books.
Pretty weird things occur in warfare...try to find proof for your dio on the web and in books.
I think this research really adds something to our hobby...we gain knowledge, get new ideas and are able to give higher detail and quality to our models.
My two cents
