Hello every-one , originally posted this elsewhere but willl do the main blog on this DG
It's not all stuck down so I can get on with painting the interior soon as...
the radio shelf assembly , thank for the reference tips , I can now get on with wiring it up..
The .50 cal , took me ages to get this done , the voyager parts fell apart so I went with the kit cradle and used the voyager gun......will add the last details soon......
The " stand " thing for the top cover or gunner . Made this workable but ended up gluing in place , again it took me bloody ages..
Next up was the boot or cargo area door ( workable ) and tail gate not finished yet , but also workable for the moment..
While I was doing this , I was also busy with the spare wheel / tyre holder .Again it all works and comes apart to ease painting...
All in place with the rear doors......
Thats it for a week , will post more next week , should have the radios done and make a start on the smoke dischargers which have lots of parts..
Thanks for looking , John .

Looks good John,
Is this the Bronco kit?
Looks like you have Legends figures waiting. If so,they won't fit.The seats on the Bronco are too high and you'll never get the roof on.I used the driver on mine, but had to shave so much off that the door had to be closed.I would suggest an outside crew if you want to show it with the doors open to see the interior.

May I ask why the replacement cargo door?
Voyager offer a replacement cargo door for the kit part which has the molded on tow bar straps. Seen as the straps are not evident on all vehicles, one would usually have to carve them off the kit part-this is a solution to that.
As to the Legends crew fit, if you try to place them in as they are they will not fit at all. I have managed to get them in by leaving off the interior roof cladding on the Bronco kit (this is optional on real vehicles anyway) cutting off the drivers feet (not visible if you button up the vehicle, so it doesnt matter) and leaving off the bases for the seats, these 3 steps should result in a decent fit of legends driver figure at least.
Nice work so far by the way John, the etch work looks very clean! Be aware though that the etch panel fitted to the radio shelf legs is somewhat fictional. Bronco tell you to fit the intercom junction boxes to it, whereas in reality the shelf should be fitted flat and have a pair of speakers mounted on it. The intercom junction boxes are usually mounted on the roof pillars above the rear seats.

Thanks Rob, I really didn't see the most obvious answer Of course PE straps (if needed) look better anyway.

Very nice Humvee so far. Looks like you did some extra job to have most of the mobile parts working ! Congratulations.
The radio rack is stuning too.

Thanks for the replies guys , bit annoyed at the radio tray , does any-one have any reference on it so I can get it right . Other-wise I will just forge on with what I got.
Yeah , the Legends figures do'nt fit . Tried to lower the drivers seat to get him in , nearly got him there . As for the gunner , it's not at all . What I was going to do is use the driver in the gun position and modify his arms.
Cheers , John .

The way you and Academy have the radio rack is seen on some of the newest M1151s.
Here is a photo collection of a brand new M1151 interior.
The more common set-up for the lower shelf is with it horizontal though.

Unfortunately, for this variant, Voyager should have removed the AM General logo from the door.
It's looking very good though, and not too late to remove it.

Hello , been a busy bee.....surfing in the canaries , trying to ride bikes , holding down a job.....and occasionally working on this...
thats the rear door with the logo scraped off , thanks for the pointer Rob.
Here is what I came up with thanks to Gino's pic
Also been working on the seat belts so I can get the interior wrapped up....
If I have done them wrong feel free to say so , I'm not an expert on these vehicles and willing to change them to get it right.
You might notice the drivers seat , I have lowered it somewhat to get the driver figure in there and retextured it accordingly . Still not convinced by the pose of him and might still leave him out.
Thanks for looking , more sooon.

John,
nice build so far, one thing I've noticed is the 50.cal ammo cradle... I don't know why Bronco made that mistake and then obviously Voyager repeated it but the version on your HMMWV comes from an M1 Abrams tank and AFAIK was never used on HMMWV's...
well, apart from that it's coming along nicely
Cheers, Max

An update for you....I had the kit clear parts coated in clear green and looking good but they got messed up gluing them in place. So I made some of my own but again messed them up by going too heavy with the clear green .
Will post photos when the other site allows me to.

You are correct Max. That is the incorrect cradle for an HMMWV armament carrier.

An update for you ( finally ).....
The ammo can is in the trunk , I sprayed tamiya clear green over the decal..
The driver....
In his seat...had to shave bits off him to get him in there
This is how the dash and windscreen looked before I stuck it in place
And the cabin area with base coat on
Left the cabin area devoid of crew clutter and other details due to the clear green going on too thick and making the windows a bit too opaque.
Will post more soon of the exterior,
thanks for looking , John .

Airco box (between gunner's pedestal and a bulkhead) is not right for M1114 - only for M1151/M1165. It's a little Bronco's mistake. In this place in M1114 there are a mounting for three big ammo boxes.
Great work so far, by the way

Cheers , John.

Some allmost finished pictures...
You can see where the decal softener worked too much on the door marking . Oh well , lesson learned , do not use too much next time.
I like the .50 cal by voyager and would use one again .
The last jobs to do are to give the lower parts a fine misting of buff and then go over the tyres one last time.
Cheers , John.

Nice build John. Came together very well. Nice job on the interior ... and fitting the figures. Makes use of modelling skills, instead of only using assembly skills! End result is very nice.
