Looking to build a Tamiya T55 next....

For this next model I want to try my hand at using after market products, such as metal barrel and custom tracks (so i can build them off the hull easily).

What other things would you guys recommend?

Is there anywhere in the UK that does such a thing??

Thanks

rob I would recomend getting a set of fruil tracks for it

RB model do a fantastic barrel for the kit as well

as for the rest... well the sky is the limit on that kit

luckmodel and hobbyeasy both have tons of aftermarket for the kit . luckymodel even has free shipping on legend stuff

Some more info on the T-55 extras:
you can get several gun barrel from Aber / Eduard / RB Models
I recommend from RB they have some great detail and are way cheaper than Aber's.
For the tracks check this review:

http://www.perthmilitarymodelling.com/reviews/vehicles/t55_track.htm

I have some modelkasten tracks for my T-55 project...

For the PE, well you have a good Eduard decent set BigEd T-55
With masks for the wheels, gun barrel & PE set.
Aber and Voyager have 3 sets each for the T-55,
1 PE for fenders, 1 PE for boxes & equipment and 1 PE basic set.
"Part" have also 1 or 2 sets for the T-55,
1 PART35073 ~ T55-A / FOR TAMIYA KIT
1 PART35075 ~ T55 BARRELS / FOR TAMIYA KIT
This one is a PE set for the fuel drums at the back

BlastModels have a Resin conversion
BL35036K ~ T55 UPDATE SET / FOR TAMIYA T55
Mig have a resin Mantlet
MP35050 ~ T55 MANTLET WITHOUT SAND COVER
Ammo sets from Armo & Verlinden too.
ARM35754 ~ AMMUNITION FOR T55

There are some Resin conversions from other versions from Legend.
Also CMK has 1 resin set for the interior and another for the engine.
They also have a dozer blade.
Also 2 different Mine rollers, one from Trumpeter & Mig and SKIF (KMT-5, KMT-6 & KMT-7)

Hope it helps !!

I'm considering a T-55 project but it took me about 2 years to get all the extras I wanted... PE from Aber(all sets), CMK for the resin interior & engine, Mine roller & fuel set with wiring & resin fuel cells.

If you need any help let my know, I can point you at some online shops & get some pics of the goodies I already have.

The key to figuring out what you need it to decide what it is you are going to build. The T-55 was manufactured by several different countries and had several major modifications made to it through out it's career. For instance later versions and rebuilds of the T-55 used T-72 tracks. Once you have decided exactly what vehicle you wish to model then buying the appropriate AM stuff for it becomes much easier and cost effective. So my recommendation is find out which vehicle you wish to build then come back on here and list the particulars (for example: T-55 USSR Naval Infantry circa 1963, or Iraqi T-55 Enigma Desert Storm 1991). You will get a much more effective list of whats available and needed.
