Aloha everyone!!

Just picked up the Academy K-9 kit after looking at it for quite some time and noticed in the instruction that the kit comes with 2 variations on the gun mantle. Come someone please fill me in on which way is used the most in the operational sense?

I found myself faced with the same dilemma when I received the kit last year. At the time, I found more photos without the recuperator housing, so tha's what I went with. Besides, I like the look of it better that way. I can't think of any advantage of the housing other than to protect it from small arms fire, which doesn't seem likely with a howitzer.
