Im fixing to cast my first plaster building Ive made them out of other stuff before but not plaster. I need to know how thick to make the walls this building is European farm house brick covered with plaster. I guess I have never known the proper size for doors and windows in 1/35 scale either always guestimated so I need to know this to. I m wanting to make my dios a lot more accurate than the others Ive built. Also what would be the proper size for wood shingles or roof tiles.Oh one more thing what can I use to glue plaster. Geees I sound like a beginner :-) #:-) Thanks PFC

For the thickness of the walls, I make mine 1/4 in. to 3/8 in. thick. A standard door in 1:35 scale would be 2 3/8 in. tall and 1 1/4 in. wide. For the shingles, I just mess with them until it looks right. I do mine roughly 1/4 in. I hope this helps you out.

depending on the buildings you can have simple or double brick walls or the brik can be disposed on the big side and the dimension of brick is about40/15/10cm (L/l/h) or abouth 1.5/0.7/0.5 inch

I'm working on an article John Neill wrote about making walls. It should have been published earlier this week, but I'm a little behind schedule.
Keep your eyes open on the forums. Any day now I'll publish the article and let you guys know when it's out there !
Sorry for the delay !

You will find NO FINER glue for putting plaster kits together than FABRITAC by "Beacon". i build kits professionally, and it is all I ever use for plaster kits. It has the consistancy of "gooey peanut butter" when it comes out the tube, meaning you can test fit things and they will stay together while you adjust things... and it dries ROCK HARD and CLEAR in an hour or two (depending on room temperature). The stuff is availalbe online, or you can get it through craft hobby stores like "Michaels" and "Hobby Lobby".

White Elmers? On PLASTER!? Heavens forbid! If you use a water-based acryllic paint, it could actually soften the glue (which is also water based)! Glad to hear you like the Fabritac recommendation... it IS wonderful stuff... a modern-day "duct tape" for the diorama-holic crowd!
these guys should put me on their payroll for all the people I have sent their way!

The reply is simple and very efficient : measure the door of your room your front door, etc... and divide the result through 35. It's the cornerstone of good scratchbuilding.
To scratchbuild trucks or vehicles, I do the exact same thing : Every detail is measured and then divided. If you do these calculations correctly, you'll get wonderful results !
