You can paint the inside if you choose to have some kind of hatch open, or you can just forget about the inside. You can do that if all hatches are closed, or there is a figure that is sticking out of the top of the turret, he will then block most of the view. Personal likingness is up to you.

Like Chip said.
It's entirely up to you. If you choose to leave a hatch or two open, you can paint the inside while assembling the model.
Are you brush painting or spraying? If you give us specifics on what you're looking to do what tips you need, we'll all be happy to help you out.

It also depends on what kind of vehicle you are working. A open topped vehicle shows more of the inside than your average abrahams or other closed topped tank

Rule of thumb...if therr's any chance at all that a spot will be visible when the model is completed, paint it. Nuff said.

Very true!
But sometimes you have to be careful with color choice. Example - you build Tamiya M1A1 Abrams tank model with the hatches open. The Abrams interior is white in the real thing. However the Tamiya kit has no interior parts whatsoever. If you decide to paint the interior white, you will only make it very visible through hatches and it will be obvious for everyone that it is completely empty! In this case it may be better to paint the interior black. It will not be "correct", but this will make it hard to see anything through open hatches, so the lack of interior parts will not be noticable.

All of them are right. I personally paint the insides black to conceal whatever detail that is not present....
