I've a Warpig in slow build and I'm looking for suggestions on the 4 man team. (correct?)

I'm looking at the driver and commander seated and the others seated or standing manning the weapons. With or without helmets,
I would think some head swapping would be necessary too. I think that can be done with some ease using Hornet heads or such?

I'll post a WIP soon.

Cheers

Hi Nick,

http://media.militaryphotos.net/photos/5th-SFGA?page=1 Here are some photos of 5th SFGA in Iraq. You can see the guys wearing pretty much standard gear, no scarfs, no civil trousers nor locally made hats. Therefore IŽd rather go for regular army figures than SF operators. Maybe the head and/or the helmet I would change.

Good luck with your project. I am looking forward to see another Warpig here.

That was quick!

Jiri, I forgot about those SF photos, great reference!

Anirudh, I've not seen those photos of the TATRA truck? I can see this is going to be my list!

...I've not done any US figs before, so more specifically, which figures can I use? Legend and Evolution figs seem similar...but...?

I think that you may find in the first picture and may be the third, that most of the troops are british the vehicles in the back ground certainly are, it maybe a mixed force there are current british uniforms there.

Hello,

in my Dumvee I use converted Figures for Driver and Commander. You can see them in the Constructive Feedback forum. For the Driver you can use the Legs and Arms from Legends vehicle Driver an the Rest from one of the new Legends SF for example.

I think you're right, Pete the uniforms are definitely british, but the weapons on vehicles seem to be DHSKs so I think they're actually Czech vehicles. (Come to think of it the original captions did mention them being Czech, which explains the watermark)

Nick, the evolution figures are more appropriate for a MIG Hilux or a GMV since they're wearing non-standard clothing and no helmets.
I'd suggest the Legends figures since they're in uniform and have helmets. The three figures from the Humvee crew are a good place to start and you could perhaps add a standing figures next to it. You could also look at some figures from Masterclub and Blackdog to see if they fit the bill.
If you do want some variety you could replace the heads with ones in baseball caps or with beards etc.
I would definitely recommend the Legends figures as the fit and detail is excellent.

Those first three pictures definately depict czech SOG team with their Tatra and HiLux. The Pinzgauer is british.

Nick, I promise I will not spam this thread, but since you started discussion about SOG Tatra, here are couple more pictures + walkaround http://forum.valka.cz/viewtopic.php/p/371666#371666

Great to have such quick responses guys!

Jiri..that walkaround is excellent! THANKS!

Ok...
The type of body armor in Jiri's link looks different from what's available..? The vest has 3 vertical Velcro strips instead.

I checked on your info and looks to me they're wearing IBA and early type camo uniform -what's it called?

Are these the right ones?

The early type uniforms are, I think, DCUs , which are essentially desert pattern Battle Dress Uniforms that were phased out in 2004-05, but were still used by SF troops after that. The Legends figures are definitely wearing the newer Army Combat Uniform (ACU) . Additionally from what I can see from photos the Blackdog and D-toys figures are also wearing ACUs. You can try and modify the figures so they look like they are wearing the older uniforms or look for older figures from Blast/Warriors, or use the newer figures but paint them in the newer digital camo, or even multicam.
The Legends crew were the ones I was talking about and they could be easily modified to fit your M1078. The standing ones are also well detailed and cast.
I have not yet had the opportunity to use anything from D-toys or Blackdog, but the figures do look very good.
Hope this clears some things up!

Hey,

Alot of the photos of SF ODAs seem to have them in ACU in the mid 2000's, and more recently multicam, though the cut is the same. The 3-strip body armour you're talking about looks like the Ranger RACK system, very common on SF teams. Essentially with the ACU uniforms, you can shave off the bottom ankle pocket, and the sleeve pockets require little modification, and it's basically the RAID SF BDU popular with SF teams..

Hope this helps!

Thanks Anirudh, it certainly clears things up! I've sent the info and waiting my client's reply on which set. It'll most likely be the Legend Humvee crew.

Thanks Alex, I think I'm going to try to make those modifications and into the RAID SF BDU.
