hi guys, i found this great heaven for modelling. finally a place to gather with all the experts and people with common interest. i started modelling for around 3years. but i am still a newbie...basically because of the finnishes. i really find it hard to paint. my basic interest is warships modelling. can someone guide me in painting of warships? or just the basic introduction about finishes of models. i really appreciate and willing to learn. hope for some guidance. thanks!

HI. Since I model armor I'm not any help on the ship thing, but I can tell you that it helps to wash your models in war soapy pater right before you start the painting to be sure all the various oils and such are off of it. Once it's competely dry, then give it several light coats of a primer to give 'tooth' to it, so it will hold paints better. Try to find a primer whose pigment is very finely ground so that it will be in scale, so to speak, for models. It works pretty good on armor, so I assume that it is also good for ships as well.

Good luck and take care, sgirty

Terry,
I could not help with warships, but I share with you the "dislike" (if not the hate) for painting...
Ciao

oh yes...the painting dread of them cause they ruined the models if it is not done properly. hmm..what are the basic equipment needed? i have lots of brushes, lots of tamiya acrylic paints..one thing i learn is each individual brushes should be always keep to each color, cause there i once i wash the brush throughly and used on another color, the color is discooured from the original. i try find books on painting models but can't seem to find a ny guide book. perhaps i should really attend painting class..haha...hmmmm..air brushes? they kind of great tools
