I am currently building the 1/72 Scale Dora Railway gun and am stuck on the final base paint color. The model comes with a list of a few different paints to use. I happen to prefer the Vallejo paints and the color it indicates to use is the Vallejo #70830 German Field Grey WW2. The issue I am having is that this color seems to be more on the green side of the scale. When I have seen other photos of the same model the paint seems to be grey in color. I have had one person tell me that the German vehicle's did have some green in them. I have never built and German vehicle's and was hoping that someone can give me an idea if this color is authentic enough to use or if there is a better Vallejo paint color I should be using.

Jeff,

Field Grey is a color for German uniforms. Some personal equipment and field radios were also painted this color. However, no vehicles or artillery were painted this color.
To paint your Dora with Vallejo Model Air, use #71052 German Grey. This is RAL 7021 Dunkelgrau and is a very dark grey.

Thanks, It is strange how the color paint chart for the model has The german Field Grey as the main color.
