I had only built two or three before they went out of production and eventually sold out, and I can't even remember what the built-up vehicles looked like. Which are the best among the series? I plan to look for some worthy ones and revive my dream.
Thanks

Well, there are a lot of great 1/48 Tamiya kits out there...

But for Bandai, the German 8 wheel armored car, Daimler, Mercedes Truck, Elephant, German sdz 8 ton halftrack, the Shermans ain't bad with some of the new aftermarket pe and barrels, British truck

They make aftermarket tracks for the Bandai at www.Quarter-kit.com or www.Track48.com

You would probably have more fun and get more for your money with Tamiya

P.S. THAT'S A BANDAI PANZER IVD TURRET IN MY PROFILE PIC

Lets not forget that the BANDAI kits come with full interiors. I would go with Bandai. Even for todays standards, they hold up pretty well.

Hi MP,

Here's the Bandai reviews: https://armorama.kitmaker.net/modules.php?op=modload&name=Reviews&file=index&req=showmaker&makerid=511 .

I think the German 8 wheel armored car, T-34, and Pzr III are good models. I have not built, but have read, that the Shermans are good, too. The Tiger II is well thought of as well.

None of their figures are any good--great detail but arms and other body parts vary widely in scale.

I had most of the Shermans which were nice, except that the M4A1 75 was a big hatch hull,(IIRC) which very few were. I had the Pz IV D which I also liked.

Back when I was 13 or 14 the Tiger II was my favorite. I like the Maultiers as well. I remember having three of those for some reason. I built almost all of their kits back then, but those two stick out the most in my memory. It was probably the paint schemes I gace them.

Best and very good:

Austin K5 truck
M30 ammo carrier (with Tamiya tracks)
M12 Gun motor carriage (with Tamiya tracks)
Daimler Mk I
Flak 18
BMW motorcycle

Still good but slightly problematic;

8 Rad Sdkfz 232 armored car (nose slope wrong and like a Puma however)
155 Long Tom (recoils arms too short)
Sdkfz 7
Many Sherman variations are quite good (with Tamiya tracks)
Valentine

Nashorn has a few flaws but not horrible.

Worst: King Tiger, Jagdtiger, Jagdpanther, Mercedes truck, Sdkfz 251, M-3 US halftrack.

Elephant looks good but has lots of dimensional problems, just like the Pz Mk IVs and Stug III.

The rest is superceeded by Newer stuff or mostly fairly poor.

Hth.

Gaston
