Hi Juan
This kit would OK for the initial stage of OIF. You can take a look here :
http://www.warwheels.net/LAV25index.html to find informations and reference pics, and see what's available from aftermarket manufacturers.

Hi Juan,
the kit is a great one to build OOTB but you NEED to find a turret MG mount (for an operational LAV) as Trumpeter omitted to give one in the box.

No, a .50 cal will not work. The turret-mounted MG is an M240 MG on a swing-arm mount called a Platt mount.
This one is on a USMC Abrams, but it is basically the same and gives you an idea what it looks like.
Trumpeter makes a small update set that has the M240 and Platt mount for it, along with a fluted 25mm barrel for the main gun.
The AFV Club Stryker Upgrade Equipment set has the gun and mount in it as well.
You can also order the gun and mount in resin from Mouse House Enterprises out of Australia.

You could scratch the mount and get an M240 out of the Dragon Modern Machine Gun set. It is listed there by its European designation, L7 A2 MG. The mount is just a couple pattle-shaped planks and a y-shaped cradle for the gun. Here are the Mouse House pieces as referances.
And the Dragon Modern MG set w/L7 A2 on the box.
