Thanks for a great review, Karl... these figures look really nice.. and the two heads in pics 7 & 8 look especially nice. I also like the weapons.. and having the hands molded on the guns gives a realistic look for the grip.. nice touch. I usually see that only in resin figures.
I was thinking about getting this set... now, I KNOW I'm getting one

Karl excellent review of what looks to be an exceptional release from Zvezda. The weapons look very good as do the faces with the exception of one of them. I really like the idea of separate hands which also gives you the option of creating your own undercuts on the sleeves with very little work. The only negative I can see is that the hands while very well detailed look a little on the large side.

Hisham, Darren- thanks to you both> !
I think the kit hands are probably a little on the 'chunky' side- they go well with the figures and they are not as fine as the examples I used from Verlinden, but definetly better than some styrene hands I've seen in kits.

great review, cheers Karl. this looks like a great set of figures. The weapons look awesome shame about the double mags on all the AK 74's but a easy fix. really like this set alot. Thanks.

Thanks a million just to you Karl for your incredibly exhaustive review.
I was thinking to make a Skif BMD-1 so these figures could be very usefull to make a dio set in Afganistan desert during the early eighties or in Chechnya during the nineties
Cheers mate and many thanks again

Thanks Mauro- your sources were a great help in comparing the kit to real pictures from Afghanistan.
By the way, I've got a BMD-1 lined up aswell! These figures would be perfect for a dio along with it. I haven't decided yet what to do with my Eastern Express BMD-1, I'm still looking for some inspiration!
