Howdy from Aggieland in College Station, TX.
I just started a diorama using WWII Verlinden figures. Immediately, I noticed a big problem with cementing body parts together. Verlinden arms, legs, heads would NOT glue together at all! I tried washing all parts in warm water and soap, drying them, and trying again using Testors plastic cement...but no luck. Next, I tried using Krazy Glue, and with much effort and constant pressure, the parts slowly stuck together. Has anyone else had a frustrating time cementing Verlinden plastic parts together. Any advice?
PS: Don't you HATE those thick sprues that you have to break, cut off, and file down on Verlinden body parts?

Verlinden pieces are made out of resin. Plastic cement will never work on resin. You need to use some type of CA glue (superglue) or epoxy.

You could also try Gator glue if you prefer something less quick setting.

...and the "sprues" which you hate are the needful supports used to make the resin molds. They could be tiny if you're lucky or bigger if you aren't, but you can't avoid them in resin kits

As above Mike.

You are trying to glue resin figures with plastic / styrene cement.

Try CA Adhesive. If you "need to", get a slower drying version.

I have used ca glue on resin and it works fine. I would, however, suggest using an epoxy. On some of my older resin figures, the ca glue has become brittle and arms have fallen off.

Mike,
Be careful how you file the resin pieces.
Like all dust it's not wise to inhale it if it can be avoided. Keeping the sandpaper wet cuts down on the dust.

I did it with many times only one drop from my of hot melt gun, and worked well. Try it and You will see, it works.
Best wishes: Peter

I love the fumes that go with modelling. Get a nice little buzz off of it.

I've been using Loctite superglue for a while now and it works well.I would suggest the the gel,It gives you more control and slightly more time to be sure the part is exactly where you want it.
