I want to make a kind of a mold using Evergreen square rod to pour plaster inside of it to make various wall panels... my question is what would be more appropriate for a wall thickness for a modern building.. say in Iraq or Beirut... which size square rod do you think would be best... 4.8mm or 6.3mm. Those are the available sizes... the others are either too thin or too thick in my opinion.

Hi Hisham. Im no expert in modern middle eastern buildings, but my first reaction is that both of these are too thin. I would say 1cm/10mm at least.

Here is a Middle Eastern building by Hansa Systems and I was thinking the walls look like they're less than 1 cm.
I do know that here in Egypt.. the thickness of the walls is usually about the length of one red brick + mortar... which adds up to about 30 cm. Unfortunately I lost my scale calculator application and I'm not sure what 30 cm is in 1/35 scale.

Well Hisham of course it depends of the kind of wall, but anyway, speaking in general
Concrete load-bearing walls, at least 30 cm (8,5 mm in 35 scale)
Concrete beams and piers
20cm x 20 cm
or
30cm x 30cm
Internal walls (comprensive of external plaster) at least 14 cm (0,4 cm in 35 scale)
Clay bricks dimensions, could be very different but anyway more or less
25 X 12 x 6
or
25 x 25 x 4
cold be considered as good aproximations
i hope this is useful

Hi Hisham
Here's a basic online converter that should suit most of your dimension-related needs

Hisham, you can use google as a calculator:
put
30cm / 35
into the search and it will give you the following:
(30 centimeters) / 35 = 8.57142857 millimeters
