Hi all,
A question for the AA gun aficionado's - can anyone explain the idea/purpose for this rather unusual looking muzzle brake - art deco period influence .
Having never seen anything even remotely similar (admittedly not my area of expertise) I'm just really curious as to it's design.
And yep I've spent numerous hours scouring the web for info and drawn a blank, so please your thoughts of wisdom.
Note. The picture and plan are from a Russian language book titled Christie Military Machines 1916-1927.

I know this is not the right answer, but it really looks like a blank fire adapter

I wonder if it was an attempt at preventing the flash from the gun harming the gunners night sight.

for the input guys.
Frenchy - Definitely not a BFA,
CMOT - ya could be onto something there,
each time I look at the pictures I always get a mental picture in my head of the electronic toys of the late 60's early 70's where they had a red flashing light in the barrel (Flash Gordon stuff ).
Guess the search for the answer continues.
