I'm looking for some tips on spraying Vajello model air paint. I'm trying to spray the camo patters on my current project so its up close work doing the patterns. I'm spraying around 15 to 18 PSI. The brush is set to spray a fine pattern but keeps on clogging. I tried adding some retarder, ( Not the Vajello) stuff! It really does not seem to help keep the tip from clogging. It has become very hard to get a even spray of paint to come out. I'm constantly cleaning the tip and having to open up the needle to spray out paint before continuing with the reduced settings.
I've had to stop and clean the model surface several times when I suddenly get a burst of paint and get spider webs or a raised ridge of paint that spreads out from the spray point because of the air pressure.

Hi. I'm doing this from mobile device so sorry if it's a bit sharp
First drop your PSI down to around 6-8
Yes... They do clog the tip but thinner paint and lower psi helps. I keep a couple of q-tips and water handy to clean the tip
You can thin w ith water. Paint sprays great that way. You may want to try Future also.

Ditto with the mobile device. Scalemodelmedic on YouTube has some great videos on spraying Vallejo paints. Check out the one with the challenger II. add about 30% satin varnish to your paint. It will make it more durable when it dries and it will help retard the paint a little. Also add a few drops of dish soapy water to the paint. The soap will break up the surface tension in the paint and give a tighter spray pattern. I hope that helped you out.

Guys thanks for the fast reply.
Andy I assume your saying drop the PSI down this low is for spraying closeup patterns and not normal overall coverage.
Jon I'll order some Vallejo satin varnish asap along with some thinner. I only have the Vallejo airbrush cleaner right now. Also can you give me a ration for the soapy water. I'll mix up a bottle full for keeping on the workbench.

Hi Michael,
This is how i do it,
The pressure on 0.5 BAR, 2 drops of water in the cup. Then mix the paint with a few drops of satin varnish.
A quetip with some vallejo airbrushcleaner to clean the nozzel every 30 seconds/ minute (i have a evolution airbrush. If you have a sparmax, then you can leave the nozzle of for better cleaning) to counter the clog up.
Have fun!!
Regards,
Remco

Thanks for the tip on pressure and the couple of water drops. I had been cleaning the nozzle with a q-tip dipped in Vallejo air brush cleaner.
