I recently was given a large collection of 1/48 Bandai tanks and AFVs. It looks like there might be 10-15 different kits, plus several doubles. Most are partially built, (supposedly only) a few are missing pieces, all are missing instructions, and the whole lot is in one garbage bag.

I've done some sleuthing and found these websites:
http://www.modelencyclopedia.com/SearchItem.php?companyId=46
http://www.studioscale.com/kitscans.htm

Also

https://archive.kitmaker.net

has some useful reviews with pictures of all the sprues, and a page or two from the instructions.

All this has helped, but I'm still looking for more information, as I'd like to finish building them. Are there any other websites that would have instructions?

If anyone has scans of any 1/48 Bandai armor or afv instructions, I'd really appreciate copies. I'm also interested in finding spare parts, scrapped builds, and the like.

I should add that I don't usually build armor, and know almost nothing about tanks, but am learning. At the moment, identifying the pieces, or even the tank types, by eye isn't really an option for me since they all look the same. Complicating matters is that there are also a bunch of ESCI 1/72 and Tamiya 1/35 armor thrown in there as well.

Thanks in advance for all your help!

Cheers,
Alex

I wrote a brief guide to Bandai and I scanned 6 of the instructions.
Have you any idea what kits you have? The hull tops should be a clue.

Well, I can't recognize them by sight yet, but I was also given a set of books called AFV Plans by George Bradford. Between the list of kits that Bandai made and leafing through them a bit I can identify what the basic hull is but not the Ausf letter or variant or whatever that part of the designation means. I also found:

http://www.dererstezug.com/panzeridentification.htm

So far I've found two Tiger I kits, a Hetzer, a Long Tom, two Shermans, and three Panzer IV hulls with various turrets and such. It looks like most of it is German, and most of it is somewhere between partially built and mostly built. I'm starting to think that this may be either someone's shelf of doom or kit graveyard.

Thanks for your link, I hadn't come across your page yet. That's a good start.

Can you post a pic of some of the hulls together? I have a few instructions left too.

They're all in one large bag, partially built, and all parts are off the sprues, so its going to be fun sorting the pieces. Thanks to David, I've found a list of Bandai's kits, so that has helped a bit.

I've so far identified two Tiger I kits, a Hetzer, a Long Tom, two Shermans, an Elefant, an 88mm Flak, four Jeeps, a Jagdtiger, an Opel Maultier, two Matildas, a Valentine, and three Panzer IV hulls with various turrets and such. There's a lot more here than I had originally thought. So far I have found instructions for:

#8221 Wespe
#8223 Kubelwagen
#8225 Tiger I
#8227 BMW R/7 Sidecar
#8237 Schwimmwagen
#8239 Hetzer
#8259 Jagdtiger
#8267 PzKpfw III Ausf M
#8270 PzKpfw IV Ausf H

Any other instructions, scrapped builds, or spare parts would be extremely helpful.

Thanks!

I'll get a picture up as soon as I can, but it might be a while, since we're scheduled to get smacked by the hurricane pretty soon.

Just found this site. I have about 60 of the bandai 1/48 scale kits, including some packaged by FUMAN, Frog, and academy models of South Korea. All have instruction sheets. If you can show me some images of the sprue trees I can determine which kits you have.

I should be able to scan the instructions and send them in a jpeg image format.

Good Luck,
Jim S.

This must be your lucky day! I have all but three of these. They're boxed up in the garage at the moment so it will take me a couple of days to get to them and scan the instructions.

Drop me an email ([email protected]) with the subject: 'Bandai Instruction Sheets', so I can save the address to send them to.

I spent a long time modeling, but I joined the army and traveled the world for 20+ years. I retired a few years ago and I am just now settling down to where I can work on my hobby again.

Hi all,

I just stumbled on this post and noticed the page that David Byrden has with some of the old Bandai 1/48 instructions posted. I have the instructions for the KV-1 kit that I built a few years ago and would be more than happy to scan them and send them on to be posted on David's page so please let me know how this can be done.

I'm also currently refurbishing the Stug IIID kit and printed the instructions off of a site that had them posted at one time but I can't seemn to find them posted anymore.

Cheers!

Notwithstanding that this is a 3 year old thread, Dave Byrden is still active, so if you go to hos post and private message him (PM) he can probably tell you how to send him the scans or even if he still wants them.
