I got Testors airbrush and compressor from a friend who got out of the hobby... Unfortunately the nozzles are not included in his generous gift and I have to get them somehow. The problem is that I have no clue which airbrush I have and therefore I don't know how to search for nozzles. Are the nozzles interchangable among Testors airbrushes? I have looked for info on Testors website, but haven't found the airbrush I'm talking about.. it seems like a double action thing, but I don't know exactly.

Well, it looks very simmilar to this set...
Can I use these nozzles with it?
BTW, it seems some nozzles are better for one type of paint. Why is that?

Congrats on the AB gift.
Yes, all Testors AB's nozzles are interchangable between one another with the exception of their external mix ABs.
If you go HERE , you can view the different ones available for your AB.

Thanks Ken... do you have a suggestion what nozzles should I get? The choice is enormous... some are called "acrylic"; does that mean they are suitable for acrylic paint only? How do you clean the AB anyway?

For me, I use the Fineline (Tan) .30mm, General Purpose (Gray) .40mm, and the Acrylic High Flow (Turquiose) .50mm ones for nearly all paint projects.
As far as cleaning them, it could'nt be simpler. I use acrylics exclusivley. Just shoot some cleaner (Testors cleaner or rubbing alcohol, (amonnia - for Future) and clean water through the brush. Than unscrew the nozzle and gently pull the white nylon pin out of the tip. Use a soft toothbrush on the tip and nozzle and viola.

Maki, I can reiterate everything Kencelot said. I too use the Tan and General Purpose tips 75% of the time in my airbrushing. I use MM enamels, and clean up by shooting plain Mineral Spirits (white spirits in Europe?) through the brush and tip. Also, I store my tips in extra bottles I have, filled with mineral spirits. Since I started doing that, I have yet to have a problem.
The tip about pulling out the back of the tip when cleaning is supposedly frowned upon by Testors, but I do it all the time, and think it is essential to really clean the tip properly. Kencelot was dead right about that. Just be careful with it, and you should have no problems.

Guys thanks for the help... I've found a set of 4 nozzles (tan. grey, turquoise, pink) for $28 on Great Models.. it seems like a good price.
Thanks again,
Mario M.

My experience with Aztek airbrushes and acrylics though is to NOT take the tips apart.. I used to take them apart and was going through tips often. Then my hobby guy gave me a suggestion that has worked for me and my wallet..
After use and even sometimes during in between times, I shoot 91% alchohol thru the tip till it gets clear, then take the tip off and drop it in a baby bottle full of the same alchohol when I am done, and keep the tip in the alchohol until I use it again... Since I started doing this, I have not had any problems at all and I am still using the same tips..

Hiya Maki...good to see you in the forums again.
I have a testors airbrush....bought it over 10 years ago now....I have been using the same tips for all those years....I always take them apart.....there are 3 pieces to each nozzle....the outer casing....an inner housing....and the needle/spring.....I then clean them with alcohol with a soft toothbrush and then put the pieces in a small bottle full of alcohol until their next use.....I have been doing this for over 10 years and have never had to replace one yet....I did buy a new acrylic tip just recently but haven't tried it out yet since I moved.
Interesting note on this.....my airbrush broke down before any of the original tips did....Testors has replaced it with a brand new one now that I also haven't tried out yet since the move...plus they sent me a used one while I was waiting for the new one to come......now I have 2 airbrushes that are both newer than the one I originally bought was.....good deal!!!
