hi guys, this is my first build log on the site and it's going to be of an sdkfz 250/9 reconaissance on a dirt road with a tree, little brook and one figure, probably the alpine one!
i'll be using some stuff from mininatur for the tree.
also does anyone know of a cheap alternative to make water, i don't really want to go out and spend a load of money on a big tub of resin that i won't completely use.
thanks stan

Hey Stan
Although I've never used it, I've heard that you can use wood varethane to make water, so it's worth a shot. Maybe test it off dio first to make sure that I'm not horribly wrong.

That is a nice start to your dio. I like the setup you already have with a lot of interesting features in it. Looking forward how it progresses.
As for the water in the brook. It depends a bit on what you want to achieve. If it can be dirty murky water you can fill up the brook with a layer of plaster. Paint it in any shade of brown or green you like and close it off with a few layers high gloss laquer.
If it is transparancy you are looking for your best bet would probably be a resin product of some sort.

I don't remember what I paid, but I like the Vallejo Still Water - just pour out of the bottle over a painted creek bottom.

Yo Stan,
Nice start! Good setting so far...
For the water aspect I can approve you the still water from vallejo.
I used it on this little vignette: http://armorama.kitmaker.net/forums/153311#1284363
The ditch has four layers of the still water, the first layer has recieved a few drops of vallejo brown paint, the next layers a little les drops...and so on.
Last layer has no paint in it...so you can create a depth in the water.
Easy to use...
Greetz Nico

Hi Stan. I have used clear 5 minute epoxy for small streams/rivers.
