I do not know exactly your main area of interest (subject, period, scale), but if in Rome, you may want to check out this shop:

It's extremely close to the Vatican Museums, i.e. Downtown, also close to one of the Metro stops (Ottaviano).
They have a decent stock, a few rarities and some oddities.
Price are on the expensive side (especially if compared to some far-east on-line shops) but if you are looking for a souvenir model kit to take back home you may want to check it out and it is not that troublesome to reach it as compared to other shops.
