I'm not sure about this building being a barn : if you look closely, you can see that at least half of the wall is not made of wood (stones & bricks ?) and that some windows have been bricked up. I guess it's rather an industrial building of some kind (maybe a disused one)...
According to some informations I've found here this picture has been taken on September 3, 1944 in Saint-Quentin (oise) after the liberation of this town by the US 28th Infantry Division.
On a side note "La Coupole de la mort" is the French version of a 1943 German movie called "Tonelli"....
