Does anyone know of any photos of the foul weather tarp in use on the Wespe ( or any similar open topped german SPG such as the Hummel etc ).
Mainly looking for how they attach and if they cover the opening for the gun as well as the top of the fighting compartment.

Hey ya Dean mate ,, the only pics i have ever seen of a so called roof for these things have all been made by the crew ..seen them of the odd Wespe and Marder but other than that they about as common as gold plated chicken teeth .
Ive seen them over the guns and not cover them ..i think the reason for this could be the size of the canvas that the crew could get their hands on but one thing i do know for sure is that they tied them down on the tie points that run along the top of the crew compartment ,,,ive also seen them tied around the guns barrel to stop the front flapping when they traveled,so i guess you could do what you wanted and still be right ..if i remember rightly there was one unit in the German army which made them for their vehicles but these machines were Grilles ,hope this will help ya out abit mate

There is a few good pics of those in the new book about the LSSAH artillery Regt. If you know anyone that has that book maybe they can help?

Do you know the title by chance ? Might be worth me picking up a copy anyway.

I recall an article in Tamiya Model Magazine a couple years back on how to make a foul weather cover for a Marder, maybe it could be used as a base for your Wespe? Not too sure of the mag's date, though, I'd have to go digging!

Hey Dean:
Perhaps this article will help you. I recalled reading it a few years ago.
